Ever since his childhood, the young dracul knew there was something strange about him. He never really understood the insulting comments thrown at him by his family and his families friends. It wasnt until one moonless night that his family and their friends discovered the dark side of him. For the young lad it was nothing to him but a fading dream. For everyone else it was a nightmare.
It was a cool autumn night when the young boy was once again in the middle of an elegant party. His family had this particular party every fall after the harvest, and he was content in knowing only that it wouldnt end for another three days and nights. This years autumn party was held in the northern section of their villa and everyone was currently enjoying themselves with another night of feasting, playing games, and dancing in the ballroom. Searching all around the elegant ballroom the young boys eyes finally spotting the person whom he was seeking. It was an elder who was entertaining a couple of younglings with a simple coin trick.
The elder wore a sage green tunic that matched his emerald green eyes, His face that was shaped by age was now wrought up in a grin for none of the younglings could figure out were he had hidden the coin. with an elegant stride taught throughout his families history the young lad made his way across the brightly lit room.
Elder I wish to speak with you. The young dracul said with a polite bow. The elder looked up from the group of kids and shifted his gaze towards the lad. With an ever present smile the elder ushered the lad towards a corner that was unoccupied.
Grandson you know not to call me elder, I prefer grandfather by your voice and your voice only. Now what ails you tyrent? said the elder in a grizzled voice. Tyrent shifted his weight to one leg and looked around uneasily. Even if he enjoyed the parties his family put on it still made him feel on edge. Trying to grasp his situation tyrent finally formed his thoughts into words.
Grandfather I fear that luscious may be getting unstable. As I told you the beginning of this week I have felt him more and more often. I fear he may do something unforgivable this night. Tyrent nervously spoke. The elders eyes clouded for a bit as if thinking in some otherworldly plane, his face grim and pale. Snapping out of his dreamlike state the elder looked towards his grandson and with a gentle aura smiled.
Do not fret tyrent for I have confidence in your abilities to suppress luscious, remember you are different then all of us and only for the better. With that the elder looked towards tyrent once more with a reassuring smile before he was gathered up again by the younglings. The rest of the party was nothing but a blur to tyrent. By late evening he was drifting slowly back and forth from a dream-like state to reality until finally he gave in and slipped into his own mind. Looking towards the shadowed figure that was luscious tyrent brought up one hand as if he were wielding a sword.
Luscious you will stay where you belong, deep within my being. tyrent said to the shadowed figure. Lusciouss form began to tremble and a deep, heart piercing laugh echoed throughout the realm that was tyrents soul.
Fool do you really think you can keep me here? boomed Lusciouss voice. Come! Let me show you how weak you truly are
. Luscious lifted his arm in a similar fashion to tyrent and a dark cloud began forming in between his clenched fist. The cloud writhed and squirmed like a snake that had just been caught until finally it began to take shape. The dark mass finally stopped its squirming and in place of it was a dark, foreboding blade clenched between The evil beings fingers.
Tyrent looked towards his opponent with a grim determination and released a cloud of white that quickly formed into a gleaming blade of the purest white.
Prepare yourself thing of evil for you will be pushed back into the furthest recesses of my mind. tyrent shouted towards luscious, his blade pointing towards the beings chest. With that both lunged at one another with ferocious power. Clash after clash both could not seem to gain an advantage over the other. During one clash however tyrent hesitated and both were sent flying back towards opposite sides of the realm. As tyrent was on the ground he heard a vicious laughter overhead.
Foolish dracul did you really think you could suppress me? luscious laughed. Tyrent looked up to find luscious standing right above him, sword pointing towards the back of his neck. Now sleep for a time for when you wake up your whole world shall be no more! With that luscious thrust the blade into tyrent and tyrents world went black.
Tyrent stood up quickly from his ill begotten dream and stared blankly into his hands. It was all a dream. He sighed in relief. all just a- Tyrent turned his head slowly to the left unsure of why. Maybe it was the cool autumn breeze that prompted him, maybe it was the acrid smell of a campfire, but what caught his attention and kept it was a shadowed figure across that campfire. His gaze was directed towards the heavens staring endlessly as if to swallow the answers of the stars.
The man was plain, wearing nothing but a long brown cloak that obscured his dark brown hair. The only thing that stood out on him was ,like tyrent, he had piercing blue eyes, they seemed to engulf everything and looked like they were glowing. The mans gaze snapped like lightning from the sky to tyrents now frozen figure. He smiled towards tyrent and got up to place more wood on the fire.
How are you faring young warrior? the man asked tyrent as he sat back down. There was a terrible massacre not far from here and when I found you I thought you to be dead. Tyrents heart stopped at those words for he knew what the massacre meant. Luscious had finally gotten out. He would shed no tears, for he knew his experiences that crying never brought the dead back to the world of the living. His heart ached at all the loved ones Luscious had slain in his sleep. His heart felt a deep scar for he knew that his own grandfather had died by his hands. Tyrent looked towards the ground in despair knowing now that he would always be alone. It was the strange mans voice that broke his dark brooding.
Warrior, I must be on my way. the man said, holding the string of a rucksack between his hand. Before I go though I must return to you your weapons. the man picked up a cloth wrapped object and unraveled the cloth. He got up and set beside tyrent a gleaming blue blade that tyrent knew as sapphire. The man set down a few more of his possessions but tyrent was concentrating on the sword before him.
His grandfather had given him sapphire and he knew without a doubt that it was fate alone that let him keep this blade. For fate wanted to remind him always of his past sins. Tyrents brooding was once again interrupted by the sound of the man getting ready to depart. I bid you farewell warrior. May you see better and brighter days. With that the man got up and began to leave from the small encampment.
Wait traveler before you leave tell me what is your name. Tyrent said to the man, stopping him in his tracks. The man looked towards tyrent with a small smile.
I am known by many names but most call me watcher. If you are ever in need just think of that name and I shall be there to aid you. Watcher adjusted his rucksack on his back and looked forward toward the now rising sun. I hope we do meet again tyrent
With that watcher walked towards the clearing in the distance and vanished out of sight.
Tyrent sat for a few minutes collecting his thoughts. Finally he got up and gathered his things making sure every item was in its rightful place on his person. As he collected his belongings tyrent thought of his new acquaintance. By the end of his pondering tyrent knew that watcher was no ordinary man.
One thing does bug me though. tyrent thought aloud. How did he know my name. I never told him it. After sapphire was secured on his back tyrent looked at the options that were laid out before him.
I shall go west, maybe there is a person who can help me find out more on how to suppress luscious. tyrent thought. and hopefully I can find more information on watcher.. With a goal in mind tyrent walked out of the encampment and through the forest. As he left the forest behind tyrent swore he could hear a slight chuckle that sounded like it belonged to his grandfather.
